Objectives and Scopes of the PBII&D 2013 Workshop

Taking place every two years, the PBII&D workshop is the occasion to present latest scientific developments and detect future trends concerning plasma-based ion assisted surface treatments and thin films deposition.

Related cross-disciplinary issues are intended to be studied as plasma physics (e.g. pulsed plasmas), ion-surface interactions, ion implantation, materials physics and induced properties, as well as technological and industrial developments in plasma sources and plasma-based reactors. Thanks to their limited cost operation and their applicability to large and complex surfaces, the versatile plasma-based processes allow the improvement of a wide variety of materials (metallic alloys, ceramics, semiconductors, DLC and polymers, biomaterials …) including a very large range of applications (mechanical and wear resistance; electronics, optics, photovoltaics, chemical, biological functionalization and nanostructuration; …).

Dedicated to surface treatments and PVD / CVD coatings using ion irradiation / implantation or (pulsed) plasma source / assistance, the Workshop PBII&D 2013 will be a fruitful gathering, allowing the contact with international key researchers and stimulating new collaborations.
